The Demographic Advantage

Meeting FDA and Health Canada clinical trial diversity benchmarks requires strategic site placement. Located just 45km from Toronto, Hamilton represents one of Canada's most vital research corridors.

Anchored by McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences (Canada's 3rd ranked medical research network), the region pairs an exceptionally high medical literacy with dense demographic diversity.

Because HMRG investigators operate active, community-integrated family medical practices, we consistently leverage these demographics to offer sponsors rapid enrollment metrics without sacrificing patient retention — our recent site activation and enrollment milestones are published as they happen.

Investigator & Operations Team

Led by Dr. Richard Tytus — a family physician with over 30 years of continuous clinical research — HMRG pairs experienced investigators with a purpose-built operations team. Rod Butt (Senior Advisor, Clinical Operations) brings decades of pharmaceutical-side experience from Boehringer Ingelheim, while Marc Tytus (Site Operations) designs Lodestar, the operations platform that runs the site, so coordinators stay focused on patients, not paperwork.

Six investigators alongside Dr. Tytus. Responsive feasibility turnaround. Expedited REB submissions. Rigorous PI oversight on all subject data.

Dedicated Facility Infrastructure

Our custom clinical facility located at 304 Victoria Ave N, Hamilton, ON L8L 5G4 is architecturally and operationally designed around sponsor and GCP requirements.

  • Dedicated, quiet monitoring rooms with high-speed internet and access to site staff
  • Double-locked, environmentally-monitored secure Investigational Product (IP) storage
  • Fully calibrated on-site medical equipment for specialized protocol assessments
  • Secure document archiving and rigorous GCP-compliant data retention systems

Built for Partnership

Independent-site agility with institutional-grade quality. Every system at HMRG is designed around a single principle: be the site that sponsors want to work with — not because we are the cheapest, but because we are the most prepared. We write about that discipline in our field notes on running a research site.

Quality by Design

Audit-readiness is structural, not event-driven. Our SOPs are validated against the N2 Canada framework — the same foundation used by the country’s largest institutional research networks — and aligned with ICH E6(R3), TCPS2, and Health Canada Division 5. Controlled forms are designed so that using them correctly means following the regulation. For sponsors using risk-based monitoring, this translates directly: fewer discrepancies, cleaner data, and a consistently low-risk site profile.

Operational Transparency

SOPs are version-controlled and accessible online. Training records live in CITI with real-time verification. Staff CVs follow the Transcelerate template for ICH E6(R3) compliance. When a CRA visits, they find what they need without interrupting workflow. When a sponsor requests qualifications, they are one click away.

Regulatory Depth

Our operations team brings direct pharmaceutical industry experience. Documentation standards are grounded in ICH E6(R3), Health Canada Division 5, and TCPS2. We resolve regulatory questions at the site level — sponsors don’t inherit our compliance problems, because we don’t create them.
